CALL TO ORDER PUBLIC MEETING

Commission President Jerry Oliver opened a workshop meeting of the Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners at 8:06 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Port of Vancouver, USA, Vancouver Washington. He announced that the Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners will take no action during the workshop.

Executive Director Paulson provided a quick overview of the 2011 preliminary budget process.

Executive Director Paulson introduced three members of the Columbia River Economic Development Council who were present to offer a few comments in advance of the budget discussion. 

Columbia River Economic Development Council (CREDC)

Eric Fuller

Eric Fuller, vice chair of the Columbia River Economic Development Council, thanked the Port of Vancouver for its contribution to the council and encouraged the port to continue its partnership and contribution in next year’s budget.

Bart Phillips

Bart Phillips, president of the Columbia River Economic Development Council, also thanked the port for its past contribution and appreciates the port’s continued support. He indicated the council’s mission is to create jobs for Clark County and its citizens and the port’s support assists with this mission. He added the current effort out in East Clark County to create an economic development program is positive for the community.

Bill Dudley

Bill Dudley, Columbia River Economic Development Council board member stated that in addition to the comments already shared, he wanted to add the importance of bringing all community players, both public and private businesses, together.  He, too, appreciates the support the Port of Vancouver has offered and any support it will continue to offer CREDC.

PRELIMINARY BUDGET

Director of Finance Smith facilitated the review process with assistance by departmental directors and key staff who offered a detailed summary regarding their respective departmental budgets.

The workshop recessed for a break from 10:08 a.m. – 10:22 a.m.

Human Resources Manager Eder provided an overview of the proposed changes to the port’s benefits package. 

ADJOURNMENT

President Oliver thanked everyone for their participation and adjourned the workshop at 12:03 p.m.
